Fall festival time at local churches

Many area churches are offering fall festivals or other special events as an alternative to Halloween trick-or-treating. Here are some of the activities available:

Midway Baptist Church
To provide Polk County families with an alternative to Halloween Trick or Treat, Midway Baptist Church invites the community to its annual Hallelujah Festival on Saturday, Oct. 31 from 4:30 8:30 p.m.
Carnival games, prizes, trunk-n-treat with lots of surprises and delicious food are only a few of the activities planned. Organizers say this free, Christ focused event is a safe, fun-filled alternative for all ages.

West Point Baptist Church
West Point Baptist Church will hold Trunk or Treat Saturday, Oct. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. The church is located at 1160 Union Road, Rutherfordton. Everyone is welcome. Call the church office at 828-287-0165 for more information.
Columbus Baptist Church
Columbus Baptist Church will hold its Fall Festival Friday, Oct. 30 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the churchs fellowship hall. All ages are welcome. The event will include games, door prizes, cake walks, raffle, face painting and refreshments.For more information, call 828-894-8588 or 828-817-2547.
Oak Grove Baptist Church
Oak Grove Baptist Church will hold its Fall Festival Saturday, Oct. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. The theme will be The Old West. Games, cakewalks and other activities are planned. All ages are welcome. The church is located at 826 Oak Grove Road in Landrum.

Coopers Gap Baptist Church
Coopers Gap Baptist Church will hold its first annual Harvest Festival on Saturday, Oct. 31 beginning at 4:30 p.m. Activities will inclue a horseshoe tournament, hay rides, Trunk or treat, bounce house and more. Everyone is invited to decorate their trunks, bring some candy for the kids and dress up as their favorite Biblical person. Prizes will be awarded for the most original trunk and best Biblical costume.
The event will conclude with a gathering around the bonfire for singing and a message from Preacher David.
The church is located at 730 Coopers Gap Road.
