Health district update on flu vaccine availability

well Health District has issued the following update on the availability of the seasonal and H1N1 flu vaccines.

The Polk County Health Department has the following flu vaccines:

&ull; Limited supply of seasonal flu injectable vaccines for: Children ages 6 months through 35 months

&ull; Limited amount of seasonal flu mist (nasal spray) for: Chiledren ages 2 years through 18 years.

&ull; H1N1 injections are available for: People ages 6 months through 24 years of age, pregnant women, people who live with or care for infants younger than six months of age and health care workers and emergency medical personnel.

The injections and/or flu mist are given Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The health department is out of seasonal flu vaccines for adults and H1N1 flu mist at this time. The department says it is not sure when it will receive any more seasonal flu vaccines. Area residents are instructed to check with local pharmacies and physicianss&squo; offices to see if they have seasonal flu vaccines and/or H1N1 vaccines or mist.
