Giordano Scholarship info for PCHS seniors

Are you concerned about paying for college? You might consider applying for any number of scholarships available to Polk County seniors.

This article highlights the Frank and Sybil Giordano Scholarship at UNCA. Polk County High School seniors are eligible to apply for this scholarship.

In order to fit the guidelines students must have a class rank from 11 to 47 in the Class of 2010. These same students must have attended Polk County High for at least three years. The student applying must also be a resident of Polk County.

The Giordano Scholarship pays all expenses associated with the freshman year at the UNCA. These costs include room & board, tuition, student fees, books, etc. The 2009/2010 college year estimated expenses are just under $14,500.

Among the other criteria, it is expected the recipient must maintain a passing grade at UNCA in their freshman year. After ones freshman year, recipients may decide to transfer to another university or continue at UNCA at their own expense.

This scholarship is a great opportunity for a worthy Polk County graduate to get his or her first year of college behind them.

The deadline to apply for the Giordano Scholarship is Tuesday, December 1 by 3 p.m. Any parent or 12th students interested in an application for this scholarship should contact Nela Loflin, Guidance Counselor at Polk County High School at 828-894-2525.
