Anthony Napoli will teach a new woodturning workshop at Tryon Arts and Crafts on Saturday, November 14, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, November 15, from 1 to 5 p.m. Students are asked to bring a bag lunch and drinks.
Salt and pepper is a stable in the American diet. The three projects for this workshop are a peppermill, a traditional salt shaker, and a single hole salt shaker made of mahogany that will add a touch of creativity and elegance to your table. Students will develop the design for each project within the specified parameters, then execute that design utilizing the Jet mini lathe.
Napoli lives in Inman, S.C., and received most of his training from Carolina Mountain Woodturners workshops, studying under some of the best wood turners/sculptors around. He states: As I apply various tools to the spinning wood, shavings are created that expose the grain and other features that allow for changes in the design. I look for characteristics that will produce interest and do not look at piece strictly for symmetry.
Napoli has published several articles in woodturning journals. He is a member of the Professional Network Connections Upstate Artisans Group.
