Sie vie for Polk County Homecoming Queen Friday night; parade at 5 p.m.

Any group wishing to participate in the parade should meet at the Food Lion at 4:15 p.m.

Seniors selected for the court include Jessica Antonio, Angelina JoAnn Lilly, Sammy Mazzilli, Letoya Nichole Twitty, Nikki Williams and Katie Wilson.

Jessica Antonio is the daughter of Janine Antonio of Columbus. She will be escorted by her stepfather, Solomon Nakom. Antonio plays varsity soccer, is president of the Interact and Spanish Clubs, vice-president of the Key Club, member of FCA, FFA, FTA, National Honors Society and news anchor team. She plans to attend UNC-Charlotte and major in Spanish and Education.

Angelina Lilly is the daughter of Dr. Robert Lilly and Suelin Ammons of Columbus. Lilly will be escorted by her grandfather, Dr. Wai Yun Syn. Lilly is the senior class vice-president, president of the Key Club, President of the Spanish Club, secretary of the National Honors Society, member of FFA, FTA and Interact Club. Lilly plays varsity soccer and runs indoor track. She plans to attend a four-year college to earn a degree in nursing or pre-veterinary.

Sammy Mazzilli is the daughter of Mark and Sue Mazzilli of Mill Spring. Mazzilli will be escorted&bsp; by her father. Mazzilli plays varsity basketball, softball and golf. She is a member of the Interact Club, PALS, FFA and the humane society. She plans to attend a four year college and major in physical therapy.

Letoya Twitty is the daughter of Rev. Arnie L. Twitty, Sr. and Sonya Twitty of Rutherfordton. Twitty will be escorted by her father. Twitty is Senior Class President, member of the Key Club, plays varsity basketball, runs track and is a varsity cheerleader. She plans to attend a four-year college and major in physical therapy.

Nikki Williams is the daughter of Harold and Rebecca Williams of Green Creek. Williams will be escorted by her father. She plays varsity volleyball, basketball and softball. She is a member of FFA, Spanish Club, Interact Club, student council and PALS. She plans to attend UNC-Wilmington and major in psychology.

Katie Wilson is the daughter of Terry and Regina Wilson of Tryon. She will be escorted by her father. Wilson plays varity volleyball and soccer and also plays club volleyball for Biltmore Volleyball Academy. She is a member of FFA, Interact Club and HOSA. She plans to attend UNC-Charlotte and be pre-Med.

Haley Champion, daughter of Michael and Lori Champion of Green Creek will be escorted by Lucas Cash, son of Chip and Lisa Cash of Green Creek.

Ashley Lynch, daughter of Bryan and Laura Lynch of Sunny View will be escorted by Davie Abril, son of Chris Abril and Colleen Abril of Columbus.

Savanna Mitchell, daughter of Randy and Angel Mitchell of Tryon will be escorted by Evan Fitch, son of Iain and Teresa Fitch of Tryon.

Brittany Phipps, daughter of David and Genie Phipps of Sunny View will be escorted by Clint Harris, son of Charles and Pam Harris of Green Creek.

Kailey Russell, daughter of Keith and Tami Russell of Green Creek will be escorted by Jeffrey Bontrager, son of Henry and Verna Bontrager of Tryon.

Sophomore attendants

Lindy Wicklund, daughter of Joseph and Wendy Wicklund of Mill Spring will be escorted by her brother, Tony Wicklund.

Ciera Wilson, daughter of Jeffrey and Dottie Wilson of Columbus will be escorted by Gage Cagle, son of Clyde Cagle and Tayna Cagle of Columbus.

Freshman attendants

Alessandra Akers, daughter of Karen Schinke and John Akers of Saluda will be escorted by Cade Underwood, son of Gary and Katha Underwood of Saluda.

Maggie Phipps, daughter of David and Genie Phipps of Sunny View will be escorted by Dylan Green, son of Ricky and Lynn Green of Tryon.

Makenzie White, daughter of Chris and Shea White of Columbus will be escorted by Jordan Brown, son of Reggie and Paula Brown of Green Creek.

Homecoming queen and Maid of Honor are voted on by all Polk County High School students with Miss Wolverine, which can be chosen from any class, chosen by the varsity football team.

2008 Homecoming Queen Lauren Whitmire and 2008 Maid of Honor Cassidy Culbreth will return to crown the new queens. Also this year newly crowned Petite Miss PCHS Lauren McCraw, Little Miss PCHS Kristen Jones and Junior Miss PCHS Mary Elizabeth Prince will be introduced and will help crown the 2009 Miss Wolverine.
