Cardinals carry 3-game winning streak to Ninety Six

After winning three straight, including the region opener against Whitmire last week, Landrum gets a break from its region schedule this week with a game at Ninety Six. &bsp;

The Cardinals won&squo;t get a break, though, from challenging competition as they prepare for the final stretch of the regular season.

Ninety Six, 5-2, has shown it can put points on the board quickly, averaging nearly 27 points per game. That includes a 43-2 pounding of Whitmire, which fell to Landrum&bsp; 27-0 last week. The Wildcats have been led by the power running of Alex Goode.&bsp; Yet, Ninety Six also has shown it will allow opponents to score, particularly those with an effective rushing game.

Opponents have averaged nearly 20 points per game against Ninety Six, which currently sits on top of Region 1A.

The Cardinals&squo; offense has been led by quarterback Brandon Cannon, who has completed 38 of 89 passes for 504 yards and five touchdowns. He also has run for 542 yards on 77 carries. Tyler Burrell is another big threat and the second leading rusher with 427 yards on 53 carries.

Tyler Logan leads the team in receiving yards with 144 on five catches, while Blake Mistretta leads in receptions with 10 for 126 yards.

&bsp;Landrum, 3-3 overall and 1-0 in region, is tied for first in Region II-A with Christ Church.&bsp; The Cardinals resume their region schedule next week at home against Southside Christian.
