She was born June 3, 1920 in Lawrence Township, Mich., to Carl and Bertha (Haakinsen) Osterlund and is the sole survivor of the Osterlund family.

As a resident of Columbus for the last 27 years, Florence and her husband were originally from Lawrence, Mich.

Florence enjoyed her life as a homemaker. She spent most of her time in her garden as she was an avid gardener who also enjoyed painting, sewing, crafts, cooking, fishing and camping. Florence was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Michigan, Chapter No. 262, since 1949.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Lloyd Miller of Columbus, her daughter, Marilyn Feldpausch of Tupelo, Miss., and two sons, Steve (Betty) Miller of Pullman, Mich. and Alan Miller of Columbus. Florence was the sweetest and dearest grandmother to four grandchildren and proud great grandmother to nine.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Arthur, Carl and Russell, and one sister, Blanche.

No local services are planned as it was her wish that her ashes be placed at the foot of her mother&squo;s grave in Lawrence, Mich.

Arrangements were made by Petty Funeral Home of Landrum, 864-457-3572.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Drive, Columbus, N.C. 28722.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Smith Phayer Hospice House and to all those special people (you know who you are). God has truly blessed you all with the compassion to care for not only the dying, but the living too.

Florence will be sorely missed, but will live on through the precious memories of her family.
