Cardinals pick up second straight win, 42-20

Bring on the Region II-A opponents.

&bsp;In their final tune-up before starting region play, the Cardinals powered past Liberty for a 42-20 win Friday at home.

Landrum has outscored opponents 77-20 in its last two games to cap off its non-region schedule with two straight wins.

Landrum quarterback Brandon Cannon had another outstanding showing, throwing for two touchdowns and running for two more.&bsp; He finished with 114 yards passing and 57 yards rushing.

Cannon&squo;s 25-yard TD run and 39-yard TD pass to Tyler Logan put the Cardinals up 14-0 early, and Blake Mistretta padded the lead with a 76-yard burst for another touchdown that gave Landrum a 21-0 lead at the half.

Tyler Burrell led all rusher in the game with 189 yards and another Landrum touchdown to put the game out of reach.

Landrum&squo;s defense helped keep the offense on the field often by forcing six turnovers, including five fumbles.

Landrum, now 2-3 overall, begins play in 1A-Region II with a road game against Whitmire this Friday. Whitmire is also 2-3 coming off a 32-21 victory Friday night.
