Petty had her first bond hearing Tuesday night, at which she received no bond. Her only response was that she wanted a court appointed attorney.

Jordan Maurice Roy, five months old, of Columbus, was pronounced dead early Sunday morning at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. An autopsy indicated the boy&squo;s death was caused by Shaken Baby Syndrome, according to the Landrum police department, which is investigating the case.

The baby and his four-year-old sister were staying with Petty, who is the four-year-old&squo;s grandmother but no relation to the baby, police officials said. Petty called 911 around 7 a.m. Sunday and said she had a baby who wasn&squo;t breathing, police say.

When Landrum officers went to the home to investigate, Petty excused herself and locked herself in the bathroom, where she took pills, according to reports.

Petty was taken to Spartanburg Regional where she was in intensive care until Tuesday when she was released and then arrested.
