Around 400 grandparents and &dquo;adopted grand-friends&dquo; filled Polk Central Elementary School&squo;s halls and classrooms as students and staff celebrated Grandparent&squo;s Day Friday, Sept. 11. Proud children walked in with their grandparents and adopted grandparents and shared information about their school day and writings and projects they had completed in honor of their grandparents.

Some grandparents shared information about their school days with the students. After a breakfast reception in the library and visits to classrooms, grandparents went on brief student-led tours of the school.

Polk Central Elementary holds numerous family-centered activities during the school year that are designed to strengthen the ties between home and school life for its students and families.
