Tryon considers moving stop sign from middle of street at New Market

Tryon officials are currently looking into relocating the stop sign that sits in the middle of the road at the intersection of Trade Street and New Market Road.

Tryon Town Council met Tuesday and heard a proposal from town manager Justin Hembree that the sign should be moved because it is frequently&bsp; knocked down by truckers.

If the stop sign is moved, it would be moved to the right of the road and would eliminate some parking in that area.

The town also is considering creating parking across the railroad tracks from the Sidestreet Pizza and Pasta restaurant. Council directed staff to look into liability issues that could be involved in creating the parking lot and maintenance requirements before moving forward with the proposal.

Town council will discuss the issues at a later date once more information is known.
