Summer&39;s coming to an end for area students. The first day of school for Landrum schools was yesterday, and Polk County students start the new school year next Tuesday.

Freshman Transition Day at Polk High will be held Aug. 18 from 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Polk Central parent orientation will be Friday, Aug.; 21, 4 – 6 p.m., and Polk Middle will hold an open house Friday, Aug. 21, 1-3 p.m. for sixth graders and new students.

Remember, school buses will be on the roads again, so stay alert for children&39;s safety.

Note that parking on Redland Road in Landrum is no longer allowed when picking up or dropping off children.
