Born in Amsterdam, N.Y., he was the son of the late Ruth Warren and Harvey Chalmers II. Mr. Chalmers was a graduate of Choate Prep School, attended Yale University and graduated from University of California-Davis. He retired as a self employed realtor in Schenectady, N.Y., and was a member of the Schenectady Curling Club. Mr. Chalmers moved to Columbus in 1992 and was a member of the Rotary Club and Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross in Tryon.

He is survived by: his wife, Virginia Woodson Chalmers of the home; one son, Harvey Chalmers (Virginia) of Rockville, Md.; one daughter, Virginia Lee Chalmers of Bluffton, S.C. Mr. Chalmers is also survived by two grandchildren.
