Earl Ray Mayfield Sr.

He was the son of the late Jack and Nora Eaton Mayfield and husband of Latha Greenway Mayfield for 62 years.

He retired from Liberty Life Insurance as an agent after 33 years and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. He served on the Landrum City Council for many years, was actively involved in youth baseball and was a member of Gideons International.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Ray Mayfield Jr. and wife Betty of Landrum and Paul Mayfield and wife Pam of Morganton; six grandchildren, Crystal Morrow, Cortney Davis, Hannah Mayfield, Kristy Mayfield, Carrie Smith and Tiffany Mayfield and four great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a sister, Lois Mayfield, and a grandson, Jeremy Lee Mayfield.

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 26 at Fairview Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Chuck Mullinax and Rev. Tommy Turner. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family is at the home of Ray and Betty Mayfield, Landrum, S.C.
