Ruth B. McCallum

In 1924 the Beam family moved to Detroit, Michigan.&bsp; On January 3, 1942, she and John B. McCallum were married in Detroit. They have since lived and celebrated their 67 years of marriage. During WWII Ruth worked at Michigan Bel Telephone Co. Upon John&squo;s retirement the couple moved to Columbus where they lived until moving to Tryon Estates 17 years ago. During this time she was active in P.E.O., serving as an officer, and for eight years worked diligently with the St. Luke&squo;s Hospital Auxiliary, including a year as president.

Surviving are two daughters: Jane M. Johnston, and husband Michael of Saline, Michigan, and Barbara Hollis and husband James of Irish Hills, Michigan, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held in the Tryon Estates Auditorium on Monday afternoon, July 27, at 2 p.m. Memorials may be sent to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills or the Tryon Presbyterian Church.
