The county is looking at documents such as the hazardous mitigation plan and FEMA regulations.

Polk County agreed last year to purchase the lake for $1.6 million. A seismic study has been completed and the county is currently waiting for the report to arrive and for a flood study to be completed.

The county recently got another 90-day extension on the contract and is expected to close on the property Sept. 30.

Polk County paid 10 percent on the purchase this year, or $160,000. A clause in the contract says that if the dam is in need of more than $2 million of repairs the county can opt out of the purchase. The seismic study will determine possible repairs and cost estimates.

The Lake Adger dam was constructed in 1926.
