Aldridge said the child was unresponsive at first, but later began breathing on his own, according to reports.

The child was airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital and was stable at the time of airlift, reports indicate.

The parents as well as several sheriff&squo;s officers, fire department personnel and emergency responders met at the Polk County Middle School to transport the child on the Med-Tran helicopter. The sheriff&squo;s office is investigating the case.
