Even in a difficult economy, organizers say the expectations are to do as well as last year and results will be in by the end of June. &dquo; We were so excited to be chosen as one of six beneficiaries from 16 applicants to participate in this event&dquo; said Lynn Chalmers, development and PR coordinator at Outreach. &dquo;Members of the Columbus Fire Department gave up their Saturday to row on our behalf and they were exceptional. This was the first time any of them had competed in a race like this and they won all three of their races and their division. I believe that because they work as a team every day, it translated to great teamwork in this event.&dquo; The Feed-A-Kid program provides weekend meals for children who are identified &dquo;at nutritional risk&dquo; by their teachers, principals and school counselors. All donations to this program go directly to purchase food for children in Polk County.
