Actor Dennis Quaid at Bright’s Creek golf course Friday. &bsp;Former NFL running back and Heisman Trophy winner George Rogers and his professional partner Kyle Thompson, and Bob Smith and his professional partner Bradley Iles finished tied for second place. Rogers and Thompson donated their $6,000 to Friends of the Guardian ad Litem of Spartanburg and Cherokee counties. Smith and Iles donated their $6,000 to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.

The celebrities competed for individual prizes and cash donations to the charity of their choice out of the 77 tournament beneficiaries selected by South Carolina Charities, Inc. The charities include organizations in Upstate South Carolina and Western North Carolina.

Clemson Football coach Dabo Swinney signs an autograph. The 2009 tournament benefits several local charities, including Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, FENCE, Thermal Belt Habitat for Humanity, Thermal Belt Outreach and the Tryon Elementary School PTA Playground Committee.

The total raised for the 2009 tournament will be announced later. The first eight BMW Pro-Am tournaments raised $6.7 million for 125+ area charities. Last year&squo;s tournament raised more than $900,000.

The BMW Charity Pro-Am is the only tournament on the PGA TOUR&squo;s Nationwide Tour where amateurs and celebrities are grouped with Nationwide Tour professionals in a four-day better-ball competition over three courses.
