The Wolverines fell behind 4-0 in the first inning, but proceeded to score three runs per inning until the mercy rule ended the game at 15-5 in five innings.
Six of Polk&squo;s 15 runs came on two swings of the bat, as Matt Brodie and J.P. Ruth each hit three-run homers. Lucas Cash&squo;s walk-off double brought home Ruth and Justin Harris in the bottom of the fifth.
Cash had four RBIs on two doubles, and Ruth was 3-for-3 with four runs scored and two stolen bases.
Polk hit .538 on the game, but Danny Fraga&squo;s pitching was also crucial. After coming on in relief in the first inning, he pitched the remainder of the game, surrending four hits and giving up one earned run.
&dquo;Danny moved here and he wasn&squo;t a pitcher, but he&squo;s pitched great.&dquo; said Polk coach Ty Stott. &dquo; He just throws strikes.&dquo; Fraga, a junior who usually starts at shortstop, is 3-1 for the season.
Polk&squo;s 11-1 conference mark was one game better than Owen,
the only WHC team to beat the Wolverines.
