Mrs. Young was born in Tryon to the late Lottie King Barton on August 15, 1929. She departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior on April 21, 2009, at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia.

Mrs. Young was baptized at Garrison Chapel Baptist Church (Tryon) at an early age. She was a pianist for the senior choir and a member of several church committees and community organizations. Christine was educated in the public schools of Tryon.

Christine will be remembered by her husband, Arthur E. Young Sr. of Tryon; three children, Arthur E. Young Jr. (Delores) of Charlotte, N.C., Sandra D. Young of Orangeburg, S.C., and Jerry E. Young (Tammy) of Philadelphia, Pa.; grandchild and caregiver of the home, Anita Young Wilkins; great-grandchild, Sharif Z. Young of the home; sister-in-law, Lillie M. Counts (Ulysses) of Landrum, S.C.; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, other loving relatives and friends.
