Born in Greenville Co., S.C., he was the son of the late Warrior S. and Dorothy Summey Pace.

Surviving are two sons, Joseph &dquo;Scott&dquo; Pace of Saluda and Alton &dquo;Sherman&dquo; Pace of Campobello, three brothers, Walden &dquo;Shorty&dquo; Pace of Saluda, Preston Pace of Travelers Rest, S.C. and John Pace of East Flat Rock, N.C.; two sisters, Louise Wood of Middleburg, Fla., and Myra Rhodes of Pensacola, Fla. He was predeceased in death by one son, Matthew M. Pace, one brother, Julian Pace, two sisters, Elizabeth Looney and Myrtle Gordon.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2009 in Piney Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. Brian Caudle officiating.

Family to receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
