The Lady Wolverines traveled to Avery (13-2-1) last Monday, where they fell for the first time in Western Highlands conference play. Midfielder Anna Trakas&squo; lone goal was not enough as the Lady Vikings won 2-1.

Polk regrouped with a 4-2 win at Shelby on Thursday. Senior forward Kaitlin Franks&squo; hat trick took shape early when she scored in the first two minutes off a pass from Emily Antonio. Moments later Franks assisted on a goal by fellow senior forward Brooke Campbell. Cambell returned the favor on Franks&squo; two subsequent goals.

On Friday, Franks and Campbell took charge again against Mitchell; they each scored twice. Brittany Phipps also found the net, and Mary Hemphill had two assists as Polk shut out the Lady Mountaineers 5-0 before the conference matchup was cut short due to bad weather.
