He was a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church, where he was the former Sunday School superintendent, and was the lay leader selected from Lebanon United Methodist Church.

A native of Polk County, he was the son of the late Walter Elliott and the late Ellen (Womack) Elliott.

He is survived by his wife, Louise (Williams) Elliott; one daughter, Sue (Elliott) Ledford of Marion, three sons, Bill Elliott of Hendersonville, N.C., Joe Elliott of Mill Spring and Clyde Elliott of Hendersonville and one sister, Sallie Jane Wilson of Mill Spring.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2009 at McMahans Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Lebanon United Methodist Church (Polk Co.), with Rev. Ned Owens, Rev. Arlin Freshour, and Rev. Harold Smisor officiating. Interment will be in the Lebanon United Methodist Church Cemetery. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service in the church.
