Montana Skies to perform in Polk County on May 3

Montana Skies, a guitar and cello duo known around the world, is planning to perform at the Green Creek Winery on May 3. The duo features eclectic styles (from finger-picking to flamenco) within contemporary music. They are made up of husband and wife Jonathan Adams on guitars (steel string and Spanish/nylon) and Jennifer Adams on cellos (acoustic cello and a custom six-string electric cello).

Their debut recording, &uot;Montana Skies,&uot; reached No. 1 on world and instrumental music radio charts in April and May 2004 and helped them win the title &dquo;Best New Artist&dquo; in the 2005 Lifestyle Awards.

The couple met while studying music at the University of Georgia in Athens. At first the two planned on collaborating on classical music but after a trip to the university library to investigage repertoire, they discovered that music written for cello/guitar was as rare as the combination itself. They were not discouraged; they began writing their own arrangements to classic and composing music for themselves. Not having set repertoire has given these music artists a great freedom in their musical expression. In a typical concert, Montana Skies will perform everything from Bach to Pink Floyd.
