TAC presents ‘The Art of Twig Building’ this weekend

Are you a nature lover?&bsp; This is the workshop for you!! &bsp;

Come join Tryon Arts & Crafts April 25 and 26 for a weekend&bsp; full of laughter and learning. &bsp;

Students will&bsp; use what nature has provided ‐ i.e. twig branches, willow, birch or hickory to create everything from baskets to plant stands and more. &bsp;

No woodworking experience is required.&bsp; The instructor will provide all twigs, nails, etc. to decorate your pieces. Students will choose two projects from the following:&bsp; plant stand, basket, herb drying rack, shelf or bird house Students need only to bring&bsp; a 16 oz hammer, pruning shears, and a 10&squo; extension tape.&bsp;&bsp; Beginners are welcome!&bsp; Please check our web site for more information: www.tryonartsandcrafts.org &bsp;

Hours for the workshop are Saturday, April 25, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, April 26, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m..&bsp; Students should bring lunch Saturday.

The workshop is taught by master builder Timothy O&squo;Dea, affectionately known as the &dquo;willow man.&dquo;&bsp; Tim has taught at the John C. Campbell Folk School as well as private individual and group classes.&bsp; He has been seen on the Home & Garden show on TV.&bsp; Some of his clients include: Tommy Lee Jones, Dolly Parton, John Hyatt and the Governor of Tennessee.&bsp; He sells his sought after rustic creations privately or through galleries and shows around the country garnering many blue ribbons. Tim now lives in Henderson County, NC, and is one of a small group of bent willow artisans in the country who keep the tradition of twig building alive.
