He was the son of the late John T. and Emma Cannon and husband to the late Pernola Simpson Cannon.

A native of Spartanburg County, he was a World War II veteran, member of New Pilgrim Baptist Church and the first employee of Sears Roebuck, where he retired after 30 years of service as a maintenance engineer.

Survivors include his children, Jerry Cannon of Campobello, Patricia Brewster of Gray Court, S.C., Adale Cannon of Spartanburg, S.C., Parice Copeland of Campobello; seven grandchildren; nine grandchildren; one brother, F. Pierce Cannon of Landrum and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at New Pilgrim Baptist Church, 5040 Rainbow Lake Road, Campobello.
