Survivors include one son, Lawrence Jeff Short of Charlotte, N.C.; one daughter, Emily Short of Saluda, S.C.; one brother, Charles W. Pearson Sr. of Tryon; two sisters, Sophie Pearson Summers of Saluda, N.C., and Vera Pearson Bishop of Greenville, S.C. Also surviving are three grandsons.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2009 in the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration in Saluda, with Dr. Norma Hanson officiating.

A reception will follow the service at the church.
