The Polk County Chapter of the American Red Cross continues to collect books for its spring book sale fundraiser. The chapter says operational expenses have been high in 2008 and the first quarter of 2009 because of demands to meet normal and extended fire, disaster and shelter activity in the area. To help the Red Cross raise funds, the chapter is seeking donations of books, old collectible magazines, CDs, VCRs, board games and puzzles. For more information, call 894-2700.
