She was a native of Little Pine in Madison County, a daughter of the late William and Gertrude Brown Treadway. She was a prior resident of Polk County before moving to Henderson County in 1951.

She was employed by Ruth Originals and Wellington Puritan Mills as a seamstress. She was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed gardening and farming. She touched the lives of many children and never met a stranger. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Reed, in 1987 and a brother, Clyde Treadway, in 1989.

She is survived by her loving family, two sons, Edward Thompson and his fianc´, Cynthia Miracle, of Flat Rock, and Johnny Thompson of Hendersonville; two daughters, Debra Diane Oswald and her husband, H.C., of Hendersonville and Tina Allman and her husband, Larry, of Flat Rock; six grandchildren, Amber Wilson, Jeremy Jones, Tiffany Alverson, Drew Alverson, Amy Reed and Colby Allman; three great-grandchildren; sister, Grace Gosnell of Tarboro; brother, Charlie Brown of Spartanburg, S.C.; several nieces and nephews; Justin Woodring, whom she considered a grandchild, and special friends Celestine Creason, Myrtle Ponder, Vaudia Jackson, Wanda Moore and many more friends whose life she touched.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Shepherd&squo;s Church Street Chapel, with the Rev. James Maybin and Dr. Randy Tryon officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain Page Cemetery in Saluda. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and at other times will be at the home of Tina Allman, 5931 Howard Gap Road, Flat Rock.
