Polk (9-3) had no answer for freshman phenom Jordan Farmer, who pushed her record to 8-1 on the season. Farmer struck out 11 batters in a complete-game shutout, surrendering three hits and two walks in seven innings of work.

&dquo;I give a lot of credit to Jordan Farmer. I thought she pitched a great game,&dquo; said Lady Wolverine coach Jeff Wilson.

The Lady Cardinals (9-3) were led offensively by Kansas Wofford, who went 4-for-4 on the day with a walk and two runs scored.

But it was team defense that was the biggest difference in the game. Seven Polk errors negated another fine outing for pitcher Jamie Hrobak (8-2), who threw five innings and gave up no earned runs.

&dquo;Playing Polk County is always a game that really makes my stomach churn,&dquo; said Landrum coach Tucker Hamrick. &dquo;We were able to work out of some jams, such as in the fifth when Polk was able to load the bases.&dquo;
