Construction on Harmon Field&squo;s open air gym roof began this week, with contractors taking off the old roof now. Harmon Field Parks and Recreation Supervisor George Alley said the taking off of the current roof is a slow process, but original estimates were for the new roof to be completed in three weeks. Alley said as soon as the new roof is complete, he will begin working on renovations to the interior of the gym, with plans to install a climbing wall. The new roof will cost $39,000 with Tryon paying $26,000 and Polk County contributing $13,000. (photo by Leah Justice)
