Rep. Shuler to announce over $200,000 in federal funding for St. Luke’s Hospital

U.S. Representative Heath Shuler is scheduled to announce Wednesday that he has secured over $200,000 in federal appropriations for facility and equipment upgrades at St. Luke&squo;s Hospital in Columbus, according to Shuler&39;s office. The funding was requested by Shuler in the Fiscal Year 2009 Omnibus Appropriations bill that was passed and signed into law in March. The announcement will take place Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the main lobby of St. Luke&39;s Hospital. Shuler is scheduled to be joined by Susan McHugh, chair of the St. Luke&39;s Board of Trustees, John Young, regional VP of Carolina Health System and Tommy Melton, Polk County commissioner.
