The fund was originally started by parents of Coach Vining&squo;s basketball team at Lakeview Academy in Gainesville, Georgia.

Seth M. Vining Jr. passed away on October 20, 2008. He was a lifetime supporter of community and youth activities in Tryon and Polk County, where he resided for more than 80 years.

He played football for Duke University, was an Eagle Scout, scoutmaster, Sunday School Teacher and a Little League umpire and coach. He and his wife, Bos, spent many days and nights in Gainesville supporting the teams coached by their son, Seth A. Vining, and cheering for their grandchildren, Adam and Marjorie, at East Hall High School.

Seth A. Vining has taught and coached in Hall County, Ga., for 35 years. He has coached on all levels including park and rec, boys club, middle school, high school and college. Coach Vining has coached teams at East Hall, Johnson, Gainesville College and is presently coaching at Lakeview Academy. He has had both girls and boys teams to win state championships and has received numerous coaching awards on the local and state levels including an induction into the Northeast Georgia Sports Hall of Fame. Coach Vining is active with youth groups, FCA, youth camps and clinics.

Coach Vining says he wants to help youth and be active in the communities of both Hall County, Ga., and Polk County. He says he plans to help Polk County coaches conduct a basketball camp this June.

Some of the foundation funds will be available as grants to the Polk County youth to attend this camp, he says. Also, a grant will be made to the school through the foundation to help purchase equipment.
