A native of Asheville, N.C., he was the son of the late Arnold and Virgie McMaHan Grant and husband of Diana Duncan Grant.

He had worked at the Ball Corp. in Asheville for several years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Michael Grant of Landrum; a daughter, Lisa Lanning of Green Creek; a brother, Arnold James Grant of Yadkinville, N.C.; a sister, Barbara Benedict of Mills River, N.C.; and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Cassandra Dimsdale.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Friday, March 27 at Petty Funeral Home. Private graveside services will be held for the family.
