The town plans to get feedback from PARTF officials on which projects it would approve for the town to use the money on. The town has been in discussions with PARTF officials in the past month and received the foundation&squo;s authority and rules for conversion of the funds.

Town officials said Tuesday that the PARTF official expressed interest in renovating the open air gym for more uses of that facility. According to the rules, the town may be required to purchase new recreational property with the proceeds.

The next steps in the process to sell the building will be for Tryon Arts and Crafts to approve the offer to purchasecontract, for town council to decide what project to spend the proceeds on and&bsp; for PARTF to approve the town&squo;s final plan before selling the property and converting the funding.

Tryon Arts and Crafts already own the adjacent building at Harmon Field that was purchased at the same time the town purchased the community center building. The buildings were formerly owned by Polk County Schools and served as Tryon Middle School.

Tryon Arts and Crafts has expressed interest in leasing the second building to Tryon Little Theatre. Tryon Arts and Crafts is attempting to purchase the property through a grant.
