The chamber also gave a presentation of the campaign Monday at the Polk County Board of Commissioners meeting that begins at 7 p.m. at the Womack building in Columbus.

Carolina Foothills Chamber member David Herbert did a presentation for Landrum City Council last week.

Landrum City Council decided to allow the chamber to hang banners throughout town promoting the campaign and also contributed $1,000 towards the initiative.

Herbert said the new campaign is being done to encourage citizens to purchase locally, saying now is a more critical time than ever to keep local businesses thriving.

The program&squo;s goal is to create a level of awareness of the local businesses with the Carolina Foothills region and to support these businesses in order to &uot;sustain the vitality and culture that area residents choose to live in.&uot;

The program Thursday will be a one-hour lecture, including a mulit-media presentation and question and answer session. The chamber is planning to use a variety of materials and activities throughout the campaign to make it successful and support local businesses.
