Marjorie Glass

A native of Lentner, Mo., Marjorie was a daughter of the late Charles and Jewell Wood Magruder. She graduated from the Northeast Missouri State Teachers College, and then attended the Baptist WMU Training School. She and her husband served as missionaries to Singapore for 11 years where they worked with Chinese speaking churches. For 20 years Marjorie was the beloved pastor&squo;s wife in the Shamrock Drive Baptist Church, Charlotte, N.C. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tryon, and had been a devoted Hospice volunteer. &bsp;

Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Ernest Wilson Glass; sons, Ernest Wilson Glass Jr. and wife Gina of Charlotte, Charles William Glass and wife Tina of Kingsport, Tenn., David Eugene Glass and wife Becky of Yorktown, Va., Thomas Franklin Glass and wife Elizabeth of Yorktown, Va.; brothers, Charles Magruder Jr. and wife Ilene of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Jack Magruder and wife Sue of Kirksville, Mo., Mitchell Magruder and wife Janice of Nevada, Mo.; sister, Carolyn Baughman of Marion, Iowa; and grandchildren, Matt, Jennifer, Parker, Evan, Tommy, and Georgie Glass.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28 at the First Baptist Church in Tryon. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Dr. Bill Henderson, Dr. Michael Jamison, and Rev. Ralph Kuether will be officiates.
