Carroll was born on May 29, 1929, the first son of the late Paul and Lora Runion Johnson.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Edna Alverson Johnson of Inman. Carroll worked for Bellsouth 40 years and loved his job, receiving numerous awards and trophies for being top salesperson for the company.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Barry Johnson of Campobello; two brothers, Marcus Johnson and Bailey Johnson; one sister, Maxine Taylor, all of Campobello; two grandchildren, Kaitlin Johnson and Amber Purcell; and three great-grandchildren, all of Indiana. He was predeceased by a son, Brett; and a brother, Shelton.

Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 20 at Seawright Funeral Homem conducted by Rev. Ben Herlong. Burial was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the building fund of Gramling United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 58, Gramling, S.C. 29348.

Seawright Funeral Home and Crematory, Inman, was in charge of arrangements.
