Other issues that are not currently clear with the stimulus package funding is if the money is 100 percent free or if the county will have to pay half.

Odom said he&squo;s heard the funding will be 50 percent grant and 50 percent no interest loan.

There are also stipulations with the projects, which have to be ready to proceed.

Polk will only be able to apply for projects that are &dquo;shovel ready,&dquo; meaning already having engineering done and rights of way acquired.

The county, if awarded the funding, would run water lines up Hwy. 9 to the first stream and up Peniel Road to the first stream as well as extend the Green Creek water line to Poors Ford Loop, which the county already has planned.

Odom told commissioners he could have the application ready by the end of this week.
