Since the building was purchased by the town through a N.C. Parks and Recreation Trust Fund (PARTF) grant, stipulations call for the town to use the proceeds to purchase new property for recreation. The town has not disclosed what property it might be looking to purchase.

Tryon Arts and Crafts met with council Tuesday and discussed how it came up with the offer of $225,000. Discussions have been for Tryon Arts and Crafts to purchase the building through a grant and lease the property to Tryon Little Theater. Tryon Arts and Crafts also owns the adjacent building at Harmon Field.

&dquo;By combining our existing facility and the library building, this would create a new cultural destination for our community and the surrounding region,&dquo; says Emily Bartlett, Tryon Arts and Crafts president. &dquo;The transformation we have achieved in the past two years at our current location has shown our vision and dedication towards the development of an outstanding cultural center.&dquo;
