A couple of events came my way after Wednesday&squo;s regional arts deadline that connect back to Polk County and are definitely worth a mention. Follow Polk County educator and theatre artist Donna Everett down to Converse College this weekend to catch her appearance in October Daisies at the Hazel B. Abbott Theatre. Performances are tonight through Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. This is a touching yet laughter filled play by Teresa Hough about the issues surrounding breast cancer. Underwriting from J.M. Smith Corp allows cancer survivors free admission and all ticket sales benefit the Josey-Bearden Cancer Center in Spartanburg. You may call 864-596-9725 for tickets. If you choose to attend the Sunday matinee of October Daisies you will be conveniently located to attend the opening of Tryon Painters & Sculptors members Carolyn Alexander and Betty Bramlett&squo;s show &dquo;Palette Pals Present&dquo; at the Lawson Academy of the Arts at Converse from 4-6 p.m. Painting in contrasting styles of realism and abstract their work has won them awards in juried shows as well as a place in many private collections.
