She was a long time resident of Tryon. She was a member of Garrison Chapel Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Stars and Court of Calanthians.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaiah Avery.

She is survived by a son, David Avery of Tryon.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Garrison Chapel Baptist Church. The body will be in the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Good Shepherd Church Cemetery in Tryon.

Cannon & Sons Mortuary of Landrum is in charge of arrangements.
