Whitson also said the lake purchase will not be finalized until March because the county is still waiting for the completion of a seismic study.The study, being done by Northbrook Hydro, will provide helpful information to the county, he said. Whitson said that Northbrook is spending approximately $180,000 for the seismic study.

Polk is purchasing Lake Adger to be used as a&bsp; water source in the future. The county is buying the lake from Northbrook for $1.6 million, and a&bsp; down payment has already been made. The contract calls for Northbrook to complete any needed renovations to the dam that will cost more than $2 million over the next 10 years.

The county will be able to pull up to 8 million gallons per day from the approximately 240-acre lake. A water plant is planned in the future on landfill property about a mile from the lake. &bsp;
