Ruby Lee

Born in Spartanburg County, Lee was the wife of the late Clarence Benard Lee, and the daughter of the late Gurley Roosevelt Edmonds and the late Sudie Mae Belcher Edmonds.

She retired from the Bantam Chef in Blacksburg, but also worked as a beautician. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blacksburg.

Survivors include: three daughters, Shirley Gray, Dianne Brown, and Lorna McDaniel, all of Blacksburg; two sons, Frank Lee and Douglas Lee, both of Gaffney; two sisters, Estelle Lewis of Campobello and Margaret Lancaster of Spartanburg; two half-sisters, Johnnie Blackwell of Sumter and Judy Edmonds Larkin of Calif.; a step-mother, Lizzie Allen Edmonds of Alabama; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Lee was preceded in death by a daughter, Christine Bell; and two sons-in-law, Leroy Long and Lee Edward.

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 29, 2008 in the Gordon Mortuary Chapel, with Rev. Grady Gregory, Rev. John Lancaster, and Rev. Dave Lancaster officiating. Interment will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 1886, Gaffney, S.C. 29342.

The family will be at the residence.
