He was the husband of Barbara McEntire Hunsinger and son of the late Ralph and Florence Hill Hunsinger. He was retired after 33 years from Michelin Tire as a network analyst and served in the US Air Force during Vietnam.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Ralph William Hunsinger (Alice Marie Blackwell) of Landrum and a daughter, Teresa Wernert (Robert W. Wernert III) of Texas and five grandchildren: Robert W. Wernert IV, Lauren H. Wernert, Leslie F. Wernert, William Charles Hunsinger and Robin Lynn Hunsinger.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008 at Petty Funeral Home chapel conducted by Rev. Gary Lockee. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
