Columbus man charged in insurance fraud scheme

Robert Roy Dempsey, 67, was charged in McDowell County recently with attempting to obtain property by false pretense, insurance fraud, felony conspiracy and burning personal property. Investigators there said Dempsey owned a Holiday Rambler RV that Dempsey and two others burned to collect insurance money. The others charged were Tony Eugene Kelley of Nebo and Joseph Thomas Taylor of Marion. Taylor and Kelly were arrested and taken into custody. Dempsey was charged but not arrested, according to reports.
