Born Dec. 27, 1910, in Georgetown, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Wilson and Emma Smith Hudson and the widow of Lester A. Valentine.

Survivors include three daughters, Frances Simmons and Emma Lou Loftin, both of Spartanburg, and Sally Lassiter of Landrum; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons and three siblings.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by her grandsons. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.
