Gerald Haynie

He was a native of Virginia, and served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII and the Korean War. He received a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engeering from V.P.I., and later received a Masters Degree from N.Y.U. He retired from Bell Telephone Laboratories after 35 years of service.

He moved to Connestee Falls in Brevard, N.C. 16 years ago, and had just recently moved to Tryon Estates in Columbus.

He had a passion for photography and enjoyed choral singing, tennis, and ballroom dancing.&bsp; Gerry was a wonderful person and will be missed deeply by his family and friends.

Surviving is his wife Ninalee; son, David Haynie and wife Liz; daughters, Kathy Haynie and her partner Bob, Harmony Sue Haynie, and Linda Siebert and husband Chris; stepchildren, Doug May, Dave May and wife Julie, Steve May and wife Stevie, Scott May and wife Carolyn; and 15 beloved grandchildren. &bsp;

A memorial service will be held at Tryon Estates on Tuesday at

2 p.m. Another service will be held at the Unitarian-Universalist Congregation of Transylvania County at 24 Varsity Street, Brevard on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008 at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations are suggested for Oxfam or your favorite charity.
