Robert Sloan

Born Dec. 8, 1932, he was the son of the late Berry Columbus Sloan and Edna Morrow Sloan.

Sloan enjoyed a long and highly respected career as a construction estimator in the plate glass industry, and was partner and Vice-President of D&B Glass, Inc., of Greenville. He was a charter member of the Holly Springs-Motlow Ruritan Club. He also was a member of the Piedmont Chapter of the Professional Construction Estimators of America.

A lifelong resident of Holly Springs, and a member of the Holly Spring Baptist Church, Sloan was an avid hunter, and a brilliant marksman who also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and carpentry.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Owens Sloan; a son, Timothy Bruce Sloan of Asheville; a daughter, Cynthia Sloan Vanderford of Landrum; two grandchildren; and&bsp; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, at The Wood Mortuary Chapel, Greer, S.C., officiated by the Rev. Henry Stanford, with interment following in the Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
